Parvati was upstairs, washing her hands before getting ready for lunch with Ginny. She stared at her reflection in the mirror of the bathroom. How horrendous she looked - the holiday season, while pleasant, always wore her thin. Parvati pulled out the elastic holding her hair up and ran her fingers through the thick black locks. Ginny was calling from downstairs.

Parvati rushed down, trying to brush off anything she might have on her pink thermal shirt before greeting Ginny.

"Hello," she said, grinning. "I'm starving. Are you ready? Where would you like to go?"

Asking if she was ready seemed a little silly to Ginny, since if she wasn't she'd still be at her flat. But she didn't feel like being snippy and kept her thoughts to herself, choosing to nod an answer.

"Yes, hello! Of course I'm ready," she began speaking enthusiastically. If she couldn't gather the energy to be cheerful, she'd at least pretend she had. "Anywhere is fine, really. I'd love just about anything." And that was true, because Ginny grew up with several brothers and a stubborn mother. She'd learned to not be picky at a young age. "Is there anything you're craving at the moment?"

Then Ginny took a few seconds to glance at the other girl's appearance. She'd never admit it, but Ginny was jealous that Parvati could wear pink. A pink anything would clash dreadfully with her hair and skin tone. And that saddened Ginny, because now and then she enjoyed being girlie. Perhaps Parvati could doll her up one night in other feminine colors. For Harry's benefit, of course.

"I love that shirt, Parvati. Simple, sure, but you look

"Oh." Parvati grinned and looked down at her old shirt - she'd had it since sixth year. "Thanks. You look nice too."

Parvati wasn't craving anything in particular, just something warm and filling. The morning had been busy already and something hardy would be perfect. "There's a sandwich shop down the way a bit. It's really nice. Would that be alright?" She pulled on her coat and bundled up in her scarf. It had been cold on the walk to work, and she hadn't been out since.

"Sandwiches sound delightful," she answered. "And aptly timed, seeing as how this is lunch." Ginny cringed at how corny she sounded. Of course Parvati was aware that sandwiches were typically served at lunch time. She was a smart girl, and it didn't take a genius to figure out frequent food items at meals.

The redhead waited patiently for the other woman to get her things collected and then headed back the door she'd just come in from.

"So how are you doing?" she asked, already aching to start a conversation. Silences were not comfortable at the moment. "I got your invitation for your party, by the way. I'm excited! Harry and I will both be in attendance."
