Parvati had requested to take her lunch early, and thankfully, Toviel had agreed. She had been working extremely hard at Alecto's ever since Aurin decided to take her on, and she was becoming good friends with the two brothers. Never having any male siblings of her own, Parvati liked to think of them as her older brothers. They certainly looked out for her, especially after the auction, in which Aurin had gallantly spent 180 galleons to save her from that horrible German man.

So it was because of this she had been able to slip out an hour early and Apparate to Hogsmeade. Last weekend's shopping trip had brought a great discovery - the perfect Christmas present for Lavender. Parvati wanted to get her something really special after their long time apart and all of the horrible things that Lavender had gone through in the past few months. There had been the perfect little dress in Belladonna, a small Italian-style boutique, and Parvati was determined to spend however much it cost to buy it for her friend ( ... )

Instinctively, Daphne recoiled from the touch, managing (somehow) to stop herself toppling backwards in the process. She took a few, shakey steps backwards, before looking up at the person who had run in to her.

Another somewhat familiar face. But Daphne was in no state to properly recognise the girl who stood before her. Brief snatches of past conversations rolled around in her mind, but nothing stuck. Nothing was coherent.

"mmmsorry..." she muttered, her voice barely audible over the howling wind. The utterance was thrown back at her, by the breeze, echoing around inside her head for a few moments, before dying away.

God, she was so out of it. She almost felt as though she were going to pass out.

Parvati recognized the girl from school. Her name had been Daphne, hadn't it? Yes, she was certain of it.

"I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking - are you alright?" She asked only because the poor girl looked like she was going to topple over in a faint. The wind whipped Parvati's long hair about, stinging her cheeks and threatening her eyes.

"Do you need to sit?"

Daphne shrugged, only dimly aware of what the other girl was saying. Her legs felt as though they were about to give out from underneath her out of sheer listlessness, and boredom. It would be a relief, to let herself flump down in the snow, and not have to worry about moving. Perhaps she'd freeze over.

She shook her head, rapidly, trying to snap herself out of it.

"...yes. I might just..." she side-stepped the girl, moving to a nearby bench, and sinking down on to it. Not half so satisfying as completely giving up, but it was a break, at least. A rest. She rather hoped the other girl would go away.
