Aleta had already been at work nearly two hours. This time of the year was the most difficult for her, even worse than the other days and weeks and months. Her anniversary with Liam had passed, on the first. But Liam wasn’t there. Aleta’s mum had insisted she come by for supper that night, but the woman declined. Instead, she had gone into work and ended up falling asleep on her desk, waking up with a piece of paper stuck to her cheek. It took her three washings to get the ink off ( ... )

When Aleta had approached the group at the front of the office, Carson came around the corner and told her there was an emergency. He didn’t bother to tell her what it was, but she was used to this. He didn’t like to repeat things, and she would know by the time the entire team was here. However, when he contacted Aurin, she was able to hear what had happened - little Wini gone! She felt her muscles tighten as she thought about the family she was going to have. Before the war, she and Liam had been trying to get pregnant and...

Aleta shook her head. Think about the present matters! She thought. Within a few minutes Aurin had arrived. She nodded slightly to him in greeting, her mouth tight but her adrenaline rushing.

Carson didn't know much more than the rest of the group. After a quick breifing and some advice, the team prepared to head to Hogsmeade. Aleta made sure she had her wand before she Disapparated with a pop. She arrived next to Darshan, and Aurin came just behind her. She turned to him.
