"I assure you madam," said Clive Smales, currently clad in pale blue and silver Appleby Arrows colours, "This toy Snitch is perfectly harmless. Tap it on the wings to activate," he demonstrated, and the tiny ball (exactly half the size of a regulation Golden Snitch and three times as slow) immediately sprang to life. It buzzed lazily about his head, hovering and waiting to be caught, which he easily did in his left hand. "Tap it again to turn the flying charm off. It won't meander more than a yard away from any living object. Simple to catch, simple to clean. And free for your lovely little boy...oh, bugger, please don't touch that. You might up-end it!"
The "lovely little boy" was trying to climb to the top of the nearest barrel of quaffles, and after offering an apologetic grin to the mother, Clive snatched the lad up before the barrel tottered over. He handed the boy back to the mother, and then let the toy Snitch go in front of the boy's eyes. He squealed in delight at the shiny distraction, reaching out to catch it. With an exhausted sigh, Clive checked the main floor. He'd never seen the shop so crowded, and it only meant good things for business. The flyers were an excellent way to get the word out, and everyone who came in wanted to purchase something. Fantastic!
He hadn't taken his lunch break yet, but the crowd didn't seem to be letting up for a single moment. He hurried over to the front window, fixing the sign that had twice tipped over and using his wand to charm the wrinkles out of the display robes before turning back to face the customers again. If he were lucky, he'd be able to settle down in another hour or so, right as the afternoon eased into evening.
But he scarcely believed in luck.
