when you first said you lost your job (& uh, btw, do we get to hear ANY version? this is why twitter isn't the medium for me, or even facebook) i was talking to daniel about it & said that it was strange how for the first time you were actually bound to a place ... & then this happened.
& hell, there are still coffee shops in ATL, right?
ok. version one is that I voiced a complaint about my boss, tangentially, to the general manager, who then took it to HR as though it had been a direct complaint. I got questioned by the woman who is head of HR (who I know quite well) & kept telling her that I didn't want to say anything if it was going to come back to me & she basically assured me it wouldn't be a problem. I then got called into a meeting with HR & the GM, wherein they said they were going to meet with my boss to "discuss" it with him & I sort of freaked & told them I'd rather they didn't do anything because the repercussions on me would be so great. the GM promised me he wouldn't do anything without talking to me first. that was a friday. on monday I got an email from the legal department detailing the meeting they'd had with my boss on friday. the following monday I got called in with the same HR chick & GM & was told that "back in may" the programming powers that be had decided to go in a different direction with middays & that I was being let go
( ... )
pretty weak sauce that instead of moving you to a different slot, they just let you go. but since your boss was a douche anyway, i guess that's at least kind of a relief.
