Wow. Between the mating habits of invertebrates and the life cycles of parasitic/parasitoid ones, they're really, really fascinating, and I get more interested the more I read (and understand why a couple of my friends geek out so much about bugs).

Spiders practice the sickest kinks ever - I mean, they do F/m cannibalism as well!

Is it incredibly wrong of me that I now envisage being turned on by a fantasy (or horror movie) of a scientist accidentally enlarging a H. sadistica spider that then takes out its sexual frustration on her/him?

exactly, as the former owner of a large female tarantula, let's just say...those chicks are bad dates, and if the boy doesn't run when the deed is done, it ain't pretty.
