just because i'm good at something doesn't mean i don't have to put energy and planning into it. it may mean that the results of such energy and planning will be more fabulous than otherwise, but structured winging it is not a way to build my career

structured winging it can be a helpful emergency strategy in times of great aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. (aside: my, that felt awfully python-esque)

as a productive long-term strategy, not so much.

structured winging it is a phrase i learned from my mom when she was doing youth ministry. it was a long term survival mechanism. the circumstances i am dealing with at work, however, are not the same or even similar enough to keep riding on my coattails...
