I posted in the dumpsterdiving community last week with pictures from a crazy hookup we made with a local natural foods store. One of the store owners saw Jake in the dumpster and offered to give us all of the food that they would be throwing out every week if we came in on Thursday or Friday. Here is this weeks haul...

A bunch of it is going towards Food Not Bombs.

Or..you should come visit and I'll make you a really yummy tempeh, lettuce, and tomato sandwich! :)

I would LOVE to get free food that a local health food store was going to throw out. I'm vegan and a broke student. I would be happy to donate any food I couldn't eat myself to a local food pantry or homeless charity. What would I say to the store manager? How would I ask them?

It really depends on the place, you know? We just really lucked out and the guy that owns the place is really cool and I've always had a good relationship with him. We just told them that we were part of a group that serves food to those in need. Talk to them, get a feel for what they're all about...see if they'd be into the idea of donating it.

If all else fails, you can always go in the dumpster.
