"so much fear and doubt over so small a thing"

this afternoon, i saw the stage (read: musical) version of The Lord of the Rings in toronto. it was a christmas present for the family, since we're all lord of the rings fans in some capacity (my sister hasn't read the books, but she liked the movies). well, actually, my mom's not really a fan... but she'll use any excuse to go to the theatre. :p ( Read more... )

I wonder if they kept in the scouring of the shire BECAUSE it wasn't in the movies (which disappointed me in the movies, but I guess they WERE already bout 4 hours long...). And I also love Tom Bombadil, but as entertaining as he is, I can understand why they would take out that section.

my sister had that hypothesis... that leaving in the scouring of the shire would help to distinguish the show further from the movies.

however, i figured peter jackson could've put the scouring of the shire in at least the extended edition of ROTK. that was probably my major dissappointment with the entire trilogy.

True...but you could probably make a whole other movie out of that section (not a ridiculously LONG movie...but it's got quite a lot in it).

Do you know when the show finishes? I want to go see it but the tickets are probably already sold out (?)
