Awwwwwww! Poor guy. I mean, really, that's got to be rough, trying to be a bloke and hold a candle to the Doctor.

I don't know why, but the ending couple of paragraphs make me kind of want to run around my office professing my undying love for Alt!Ten and Rose. Which is quite an accomplishment given the POV it's coming from. Go you!

Thank you so much! This was a weird one to write, to be sure, but it just kind of poured out of me, and I found myself really digging sweet, cynical Matthew. And I love that the moment he gives up isn't when she's rude to him, isn't when she vanishes, but when he sees her with the Doctor for the first time: so, so obvious, the two of them are.

I really liked this one. It definitely stood out from the pack. Few people took the OC route with this challenge (I did too!), probably because with the word limit, it'd hard to develop a character enough for people to get a feel AND address the prompt. I think you did a great job. :)

And awww, poor Matthew.

Awww, poor guy. Man, I have such a kink for these outside-perspective fics. This one was absolutely lovely, to give us a feel for an OC in such a small space; and the description of Rose and the Doctor at the end was beautiful. :)

You've gotta feel for the guy, but even if she'd not ended up with the Doctor in tow, I don't think she'd have been up to the moving on with one of the lads just yet.

No, she definitely wouldn't have ended up with him in the way he wanted, but I do think she enjoyed having a guy friend. Rose is like me, and seems to get on better with men than with women. Sadly, I think the 'whatever they had' that Matthew refers to includes friendship as well, as I don't think Rose can see anything else in her life other than the Doctor. Poor guy.

Too bad no one could tell Matthew that he didn't have chance. I'm not surprised it only took one look for him to realize that was it. Excellent description of the Doctor and of Rose's reaction to him.
