The thing that struck me most was with all the celebs they were trotting out, and all the references to classic British tv there was nothing but a tiny Tardis soundtrack, half hidden in a song.

Maybe I'm an eternal optimist, but right till the end I was thinking 'Why go to so much trouble NOT to mention something so iconic that has endured for 50 years?'

Apparently there were 27 million viewers last night (twice as many as ANY other Opening Ceremony) and I wonder how many of them were Who fans hoping for a glimpse...

I suppose there's a tiny chance DT could appear in the closing ceremony, but I won't be holding my breath. *sigh*

ME TOO, ME THREE, ME FOUR.

I was RIDICULOUSLY upset about the lack of Ten. I suppose if they were going to pick just one British pop culture icon to include, James Bond is *slightly* more universal. BUT I DON'T CARE. DANNY BOYLE YOU ARE DEAD TO ME.

I was live tweeting with the Brits since I was watching live and James Moran was frakking with his Whovian followers hinting that we'd get more than what we got, even reminding us at one point we heard that TARDIS and that could only mean one thing. I wanted to rip him a new one for messing with us.

That said, I did hear there was more Who-centric stuff planned, but it was pulled for time, and even Sir Paul McCartney had time pulled from his allotment. I think the parade of nations was just too damned slow, which is hilarious because I also watched the NBC coverage right after where they went on about how this was the fastest parade of nations they had ever seen! Well of COURSE it is when it isn't aired live and truncated to hell for maximum commercials.
