Carol, you're back! I thought you'd given up on Sam & Dean! I was so excited when you tagged me on FB. I'd check here every once in a while, but didn't really expect to see anything new. Then this gift!

The story is, of course, gorgeous. The imagery is powerful and there's such a bittersweet quality of Dean's every other thought about Sam.

Even with everything, there was a certain innocence about them as kids, wasn't there? Even in S1, compared to now. This is lovely. Thank you for visiting our boys again.

Thanks, Adina! I thought you might enjoy a little visit with the boys. :)

At first I was going to have Sam be there as an adult - but there's something so important about retrieving the relationship they had 20 years ago, when they could still hold onto being kids for a little while longer.

"You good, Sammy?" Dean asks in a whisper.

"I am now," his brother whispers back.
BOYS. ♥

I did indeed, as usual. :)

Oh, funny coincidence--I was on Goodreads the other day, and what should pop up in the ad rotation but your Wool books for Kindle Worlds! :D Not my fandom, but I hope they're selling well.

Huh! I didn't know there *was* an ad rotation on Goodreads.

The Wool stories sold really well at the beginning (about a year ago), but interest in that world has been slacking off pretty steadily. People are moving on to other things, which is understandable. I've done it a time or two (or 20) myself. :)

Lovely, Carol. You certainly haven't lost your touch (not that I ever thought you would) and you captured Dean wonderfully.

This was bittersweet to me - for me, I went with heaven but the aloneness of it made me achy. And then wee Sam showed up :)

Nice to see you dipping your toes in these waters again :)

Thank you! I'm glad you guys all enjoyed it.

I'm hoping to be inspired enough to do a story or two a month. Though LJ continues to make me crazy with its unnecessary (and unfathomable) changes.

I love how you manage to mix the poignant and the humorous... I loved this line: "Although no matter what kind of product Sam uses, his hair never quite stops looking like ass." Snort.

But it was also so sad... I nearly cried when young Sam found suddenly-young Dean...they break my heart.

I've missed writing Dean! He has such a particular way of looking at things - and it's fun when you can make yourself laugh while you're writing. Doing this one brought me back to Dean and the steam shower from S1.

Glad you enjoyed it!

Finally, finally got to read this! And it was worth the wait. Although you've set it in season 9, it does have a lot in common with the themes of season 10 in some ways - Dean only being able to relax and enjoy himself when he's turned into a demon. So it's nice to see a non-demonic Dean getting to take a load off for a while and just enjoy himself. Once he's found Sam, obviously!

And it kind of makes sense he would like Catherine from Hawaii Five-0. She's his dream girl, after all! (She did well for herself after that El Sol commercial!)

Glad you enjoyed it! I've done a couple of stories along the way that didn't fit exactly into the timeline - so I leave it up to you guys to decide where they go. There's always a *right* place. :)
