Aww, Carol, you brought tears to my eyes. This is lovely. Very melancholy and a little bittersweet. I needed this. John probably felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and to come home to see his boys laughing and playing, I'm sure it brought more than a smile to his face. I love it how the boys just wanted to make him happy. Incidents like this, one does not forget. Very cool that Sammy finally remembered. :)

Thank you! Yes, I like to think there were moments when John could just give it up and laugh. (And after all... nobody knew their names; he could just walk away from the room with the broken bed, no harm, no foul...)

I am sure the Winchesters walked away from a damaged room on many occasions. Whether it be a broken bed caused by Dean and Sam, or blood spattered towels, walls, or what not. I do believe that happened more often than not.

Loved this snippet of a childhood memory. Bet they didn't have many of their dad just laughing at their antics. And I wonder how many of your younger readers will get the analogy to a Polaroid picture slowly coming into being? Another thing now relegated to the past. :-!

I think maybe in their wee!chester days, John might find a little humor now and then. Later on? Not so much.

I'd guess probably half the fandom has no idea what a "Polaroid" is. Oh dear.
