Some people really do need the validation of bits of paper to show they're smart. Some people just don't. Dean's one that doesn't, except he kinda does.

Yay! Not!So!Dumb!Dean!! One of my favourite flavours! You know I think you're probably right. Dean puts on this show of being thick skinned and not caring what anyone thinks of him, but it's got to wear even Dean Winchester down a little bit, everyone thinking he's just the muscle and Sam's the brains of the outfit all the time. Dean clearly isn't in any way dumb. But sometimes when that's what everyone around you tells you, a little part of you, especially if you have self esteem issues, might eventually start to believe it.

Dean reminds me sometimes of my brother - who just couldn't make a go of it in college, but has been very successful in life. He owns his own business, is well respected by the people he works with, has a tidy bank account, all of that. Yet some people might look at his resume and think, "No college?"

I LOVE smart!Dean. I mean, seriously - if he were as stupid as people make him out to be, he would have been killed 20 years ago.
