Okay, so you’re looking at the character list and thinking, "No Sam and Dean.  Not worth my time."  But I'm hoping you'll overcome that feeling long enough to read this.  Out of the almost-300 stories libraried here, I'd pick this one as the one that's the most … well, literary.  I love the mood of it, the language, the way it seems like an old ( Read more... )

It was going to be the beginning of an entire series of stories, but that idea got the legs shot out from under it.
Take it AU! It's a lovely concept and got off to such a good start.

I'm still considering that. As well as AU-ing a number of other things.

Glad you enjoyed this one. Thanks for commenting. :)

Wonderful story. I'd like to see Jo do more 'motherly' stuff.

I agree, take it AU! It's a great idea and a good story. Also, don't you mention "Jo's kids" in one of your hope 'verse stories?

Anyway, even if it stands alone it's a lovely story. Scary and sad and heartwarming all at once.

Yes, they're mentioned in "One Hundred."

There was one follow-up to this ("Wren"), but then Kripke...did what he did, and it poured a big bucket of cold water on my plans. But I'll have to see what evolves. That's the point of fanfic, after all - to write it the way *we* want to.

Thanks for the kind words - I'm glad you enjoyed the story. :)

So unexpected and so right. Jo would find a place for this child in her life, maybe not as 'mom' but definitely as a guardian of some sort. Again wonderful work.

Thank you! I think it's an interesting concept to ponder. I'll have to see if it's possible to take it further, if the Muse ever wakes up...
