Alec was expecting the guy flirting with Parker to be annoyed when Alec came over and distracted her.

He wasn't expecting the guy to pull a knife on him.

"Uh," he said, blinking up at the ceiling, from where Parker had shoved him to the floor before the guy could stab him. She was standing between them, her back to Hardison, so he couldn't see her face but he imagined it must have gone scary hot- uh, blank. "Okay, so, that was more violent than I was expecting."

"What?" Eliot's voice growled in his ear, sharp. "What was? What happened?"

"Look, Alice," the guy was saying, holding his knife-free hand out in a calming gesture that wasn't really working because he still had a really damn big knife in his other hand. "I'm not going to hurt you, but this guy- You don't know what he is. He's not a good guy, he's-"

"You do not get to knife Hardison," said Parker, raising her voice to cut him off.
