Anyone who has ever lost a pet will understand.

When I read book 7 the first time, I got to the part where Hedwig died and slammed the book shut. How could she kill the poor owl. The owl should've been let out to fly to the Burrow ahead of time. I was truly angry at JKR for that.

Absolutely. Why the hell did she have to put hedwig in a cage. She can fly for merlin's sake. I actually had to re-read that part several times to comprehend what she'd done.

This reminds me of when I my cat Lucky was killed by our dog. I still miss that crazy cat.
