Title: The Morning After
Rating and Warnings: PG-13, Spoilers for the season 4 finale
Words: 500
Summary: Alexis arrives home to find quite a surprise.

Alexis yawned as she inserted the key into the door of the apartment. She never knew partying all night could be so exhausting! Come to think of it, she had never stayed up all night partying. Unlike her friends, she had never even stayed up all night studying. And she was starving! She must have worked up an appetite from all the dancing.

As she entered the apartment, Alexis expected to see her dad in the kitchen or at least in his office. She had thought he'd be up by now as he'd always been an early riser, but he was nowhere to be seen. She dropped her bag on a chair and looked around for a note saying he'd gone out for coffee or run to the store for an essential breakfast item. She had hoped he'd make her one of his delicious classic omelettes, not the science experiment he called a smorelette. She cringed at the memory of tasting that thing.

As Alexis searched for the note she was surprised to see a pile of laundry on the floor. That was very unlike her extremely tidy dad. She bent to pick up the pile and was shocked to notice these were not only her dad's clothes. She quickly dropped the pile which was half women's clothes. All of them were damp, too, and she really didn't want to know why.

Alexis' curiosity won out over her embarrassment, and she gingerly prodded the pile with her toe to see what was there. Everything was there. Her dad's shirt he'd worn yesterday, undershirt, slacks, socks, boxers, women's jeans, t-shirt, socks, bra, and panties. Her dad had been naked in the kitchen with some unknown woman and had left all of the evidence behind! Alexis resolved not to prepare food on any of the counters until after the cleaning service had been there. Just in case.

The whole situation was extremely strange. In her eighteen years, Alexis had never seen even a shred of evidence that her dad had had female companionship for the night. She knew he had, of course. Unfortunately her mother wanted to be forthcoming with details. Eww! No, thank you. But her dad had always kept his private life private, even invisible. Why the change now?

Since an omelette was apparently not going to happen, Alexis returned the pile, as nearly as possible, to its original configuration and grabbed some pop tarts and milk, deciding to eat in her room before collapsing for some much needed sleep. It was possible the mysterious owner of the women's clothing could return, and she didn't want to be around for that.

As Alexis reached the staircase, she heard a cell phone ring in the kitchen. She stifled a giggle and hurried to her room, putting down her breakfast items so she could bounce around, laughing silently. Now she knew why, for the first time in history, her dad had left behind evidence. The ring tone she heard was from Detective Beckett's cell.
