Drabble: Harry and kids, mostly Lily
Title: Choosing a House

As the train left the station carrying her brothers to Hogwarts, Lily started crying. She'd been tearful off and on all morning, but now cried in earnest.
Harry knelt down, hugging his sobbing daughter. "Lily-love, we've discussed this. I know you'll miss Al and James, but you'll get to do things with your mum and me they won't get to do."
"Like what?" Lily sniffed.
"Like come to Fortescue's, and we'll have ice cream for lunch, just the two of us."
Lily brightened considerably.

"Morning, Lily!"
"Morning, Daddy. Where's Mummy?"
"She had an early meeting. She won't be gone long."
"Did Al write about his Sorting after I went to bed?"
Harry nodded.
"And?!"
"And what?" Harry's eyes twinkled.
"What house is he in?" Lily almost yelled.
"Slytherin."
"Are you upset?"
"No. Your mum and I told you we'd always love you no matter what house you were in. We meant it."
"Is Al upset? James has been teasing him loads."
"Al picked Slytherin to be in the same house as his new friend he met on the train."
"He picked?"
"The Sorting Hat took my choice into account, so I guess it does for everyone."
"You told the Hat to put you in Gryffindor, Daddy?"
Harry chuckled, "I told it not to put me in Slytherin."
Lily giggled. "What house did Rose get?"
"She picked Slytherin, too."
"Uncle Ron will go mental!"
"Probably."

Harry entered the house and heard giggling. He found his wife and daughter, or at least, he thought they were his wife and daughter, laughing hysterically.
"Who are you two and what have you done with my girls?"
"Daddy! Mummy let me use her wand, and we did glamour charms on each other!" A black-haired, green-eyed Lily exclaimed. "We thought we'd make ourselves look like you to surprise you, except I messed up the spell on Mummy."
Harry looked carefully at Ginny's black hair, brown eyes, and green eyebrows and burst out laughing. "Glamour charms take time to master, Lily. Now can the two of you please sort yourselves out?"
"We were going to do our hair and eyes in House colors next!"
"Which house?"
Lily shrugged.
"I prefer how you originally looked."

"What house do you want to be in, Lily?" Harry asked.
Before Lily could answer, Al interrupted, "You should be in Slytherin with me. The Common Room has furniture that's green like Dad's eyes."
"Who cares about furniture?" James asked, rolling his eyes at Al. "You should be in Gryffindor with me. Mum and Dad and almost our whole family was in Gryffindor! "
"Maybe Lily wants to have her own house," Harry suggested.
"Not Ravenclaw!" Al and James exclaimed together.
"Why not Ravenclaw?" Lily asked. "Victoire liked Ravenclaw."
"Isn't that reason enough?" James asked.
Al answered, "You have to answer the door-bird's questions correctly to get into the Common Room. It'd be really annoying."

I took Daddy's advice and picked my own house. I'm in Hufflepuff!
