Watch this.

It's one of the most fantastic speeches that I've ever heard, not just about everything that Bush has done, but also about how the American people chose to let him get away it. Context is that Alan Shore is an attorney whose secretary is on trial for tax evasion as a form of political protest.

Transcript of the speech.

*takes a bow* You're welcome. XD Feel free to pass that link around as much as you like because damn if this isn't one of the best arguments I've ever heard against what's happening in American today.

I didn't watch it, but I certainly did read it.

And what I’m most sick and tired of is how every time somebody disagrees with how the government is running things, he or she is labeled unAmerican.

Not only that, but I notice online, at least, that people are now adding, "It's for our own good." I've seen people try to say something - even so much as simply in a forum, and people simply brush off with, "It's for our own good" or (for certain things) "If you have nothing to hide, you shouldn't care". Or such things - as if murder-torture-etc is okay if you're a certain person (or so they come off). Offline, I see people say a bit of if they like/don't like what's going on, but in a, "It'll all be over soon..." sort of way...

Interesting.

...It's for our own good? WTF? What the fuck?! Protecting our civil rights would be for our own good. Allowing us privacy for the sake of it, just because people should not be spied on or incarcerated for no reason, is good for us.

What's happening right now? That's good for someone who wants ultimate power over the workings of a country. The president is NOT the American people.

If anything, the president's a jackass.

Yeah. For OUR own good. Because apparently whoever is in power KNOWS what they're doing and as such should be silently obeyed.

Pretty sad and pathetic, huh?

I couldn't agree more, there. (with you).
