No new fic since the 14th! Eek! My muse took a short vacation while I did some coding work.
CSI: Miami, Horatio/Calleigh. Rated U.
Final set of posts to catch up for
hc_100. Yep, I'm all done! :)
#27. New Beginning. H/C. 100 words.
His fingers brush against the base of her spine, a fleeting touch that captures all of her attention, as he continues past her into her lab. She turns to follow him a moment later, excusing herself to Valera, and closes the door behind her when she enters.
There's a bright smile already touching her lips and her hips sway as she sashays towards him. He smiles back involuntarily, and reaches out to draw her closer.
"Dinner, eight o'clock?"
She nods and chances a kiss; their third, she's counting. This a new beginning, for them both, and she's never been happier.
#28. "Tomorrow Will Be…" H/C. 100 words.
"Tomorrow will be torture, Horatio," she protests melodramatically, stretching out across the bed so she can watch him getting dressed. "I'll have all these mental pictures in my head, and I won't be able to do a thing about them."
"No," Horatio agrees with an amused smile, walking over to lean down and kiss her. "You won't. But you will be able to do anything you want after we finish work."
"Mm," Calleigh closes her eyes, a grin twitching at her lips. "Anything?"
He laughs, captivated by her expression. He loves her more than even she realises.
"Anything," he promises.
#29. Anger and Reason. H/C. 100 words.
Calleigh is angry (furious, even) of this Horatio has no doubt. Their lunches sit ignored on the table; his because he can't quite bring himself to look away from her glaring gaze, and hers because she's too angry to eat. She has her reasons for being angry and he's prepared to admit that they're valid ones.
This… whatever it is that's between them has been ignored for too long, and if she's finally frustrated with him, he can't really blame her. He's spent a lot of time wondering what he really wants but he knows now, he only wants her.
#30. Secret's Out. H/C. 100 words.
"Secret's out," Calleigh says, and Horatio glances up from his paperwork to see her leaning against the door to his office, arms crossed and expression remote.
"What secret?" he asks, confused.
"Eric said he saw you kissing Yelina yesterday, in the parking lot." She smiles but it comes out forced. "I guess you two worked out your issues."
Now he knows what she means. He can recall the feel of Yelina's lips against his, and the surprise he felt when she kissed him.
"It's not what you think," Horatio says softly.
Calleigh says nothing, but her expression says it all.
#31. Last Chance. H/C. 100 words.
Calleigh's anger winds down, finally disappearing entirely with the same speed it arrived.
When Horatio looks at her now he feels more helpless than he did during her tirade. When all is said and done, it's hurt that’s driving this conversation and he can't stand the thought that she's hurt because of him.
"Last chance, Horatio," she says tiredly. "I can't do this anymore. If it's 'No' then you need to say so, and if it's 'Yes' then do something about it."
He smiles and takes her hand, then leans across the table to whisper 'Yes' before he kisses her.
#32. Existence. H/C. 100 words.
Horatio's distracted indifference haunts her waking hours while visions of John, and his brains splattered on the ceiling of her lab, haunt her nights. She feels completely alone; as though she's simply existing instead of living her life. She needs someone to reach out to her, because she's drowning trying to handle this by herself.
She needs Horatio. She needs to hear him say that everything will be okay, but there's something going on with Yelina, she's heard whispers, and his focus is on her. She can't bring herself to ask him for help, even though she desperately wants to.
