I'll bite. Two snippets. One of these is meant to be TOS!Kirk, one of these is Reboot!Kirk. I'd appreciate it if the Trek fans around here would let me know how well you can believe these Kirk voices. Can you tell them apart? If so, how? How can I further differentiate them, get them more IC for their subtly different characters? Any other thoughts?
One:
“What the hell were they thinking, expecting us to make peace with these people?”
Bones snorted inelegantly. “Thought you wanted Command to develop some confidence in your abilities

I'm guessing that number One is TOS!Kirk and number Two is Reboot!Kirk. When no one declared this a highly illogical statement, Jim looked up to see where Spock was at. This line is excellent and strikes me as very Kirk, if that makes any sense. It's so true to their relationship.
In the second snippet, I just love the part about the planets "waiting out there to be seen, to be experienced." You really capture the energy of the reboot universe here.

Thank you. It is, isn't it? Because it shows an expectation that Spock will comment in a certain way, a familiarity with his habits. Sometimes I like to think of Spock and McCoy as the little cartoon angel and devil on Kirk's shoulders, only they're representing something slightly more complex than his 'good' and 'evil' sides. OMG, I love the three of them. I hope in future movies we'll get to see that lovely Kirk-Spock-McCoy triad start to work the way it used to work. *looks wistful*
I read 1) as TOS Kirk, 2) as Reboot initially, but then going back I actually think it's the opposite. The Kirk voice in #2 seems more confident, sure of himself. In the first snippet, he seems more agitated by the situation than TOS Kirk would have been. And then there's McCoy's line about Command. This Jim seems like he's looking for approval and "dammit, 'Fleet's going to have his head on a platter if he doesn't come up with something."
When no one declared this a highly illogical statement, Jim looked up to see where Spock was at.I really like this line too, but I would drop the "at
