Could you please give a short overview of 'The Chronicles of Narnia' - of course I can google.... - but maybe the bits I need for this story?

I'm probably the only one in the world who has no clue about it...

Sure! The books were so much a part of my childhood that I just assume everyone knows them -- sorry ( ... )

"I hope that helps, and that I haven't overwhelmed you with details!"
Of course not! Thank you!
That sounds just like the kind of books I would have read as a child.
And I'm very curious about your story! :-)
Will tell you!

It's been a long, long time since a fic really got to me like this one did. You struck the perfect tone with it--even after so many years in our world, she really is still the Queen she once was, and I can really feel it in the character.

It hurts that Susan's life is so defined by the funerals that go on around her--and that the first funeral of the story should be for three friends, like her three siblings. But it's defined, too, by her years as a Queen, and I love the strength that it gives her when things are the hardest. I love that she cries first for the others, because they can't, but by the end she's learned how to cry for herself again.

The idea of her clinging to what she sees as her last scrap of innocence, in case she should be allowed back to Narnia...oh, wow. That was brilliant and heart-wrenching. And I loved the conversations with Cowley about God and morality, Susan trying to put her thoughts into words that this world understands.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it!

And so now I am sitting here, smiling and sniffling, and I just want to read it all over again.

I don't think an author can ask for higher praise. :)

I'm sitting here in total awe of this story. Cowley being the moral compass of CI5, the Narnia elements, the glimpses of the other agents going about their business around her, while Susan appears aloof and detached from it all. As though all passion in Susan died when she left Narnia. Even her grief for Williams seems muted.
I'm glad she woke up at the end.

I don't know too much about Narnia but I found this a joy to read, anyway. Though there's little of Bodie and Doyle on the face of it, yet they're always there, somehow moving the story along yet not part of it at all.

I'm thrilled you like it! You're right, Bodie and Doyle are so much a part of CI5, they wouldn't stay in the background for long. :)

I have never read a story like this, in all my years of reading fan fiction. And I don't think I've ever read a story from Susan's viewpoint before either. Wow.
