It's ages since I tried to do one of these and I don't think it was what you were after, so sorry in advance.

Joey hates the night. He hates how problems seem magnified, growing and feeding on his fears. He hates how even the smallest noise echoes, the drip of a tap, the rattle of the air conditioning. Tiny sounds that amplify as he sits in bed and listens, book abandoned on the covers, one hand splayed across Kelly’s back. He runs his fingers over the soft cotton of her t-shirt, needing to touch, grounding himself on the woman he loves. Then sits waiting, body tense, knowing it can’t be long.

The first cry fractures the still night and within seconds Joey is moving. Heart racing as he carefully pulls up the covers, whispering ‘it’s okay, you sleep I’ll go this time’ and heads out of the room

It does hurt, it's just, I think Joey really loves Kelly and if you add that to the Choey the possibility for hurt is always there.

When I think of Choey I have to think of Kelly too, because Joey obviously loves her so much, and in my universe loves Chris just as much too. Poor guy.
