A/N: The fact that the main characters, Midou Ban and Amano Ginji, always have trouble settling their tab at a particular coffeeshop (the Honky Tonk) is a running gag through the series.

"Not even a cup of coffee?" Ginji looked at the Honky Tonk's master with wide blue eyes. "Please? As soon as we get another job-"

Said master looked out from behind his newspaper. "You always say that, and sometimes you don't even get the money you're supposed to be paid!"

Ginji frowned and slumped over the counter.

The doorbell chimed, announcing an entrance, and he looked up excitedly - maybe it was Hevn with a job for them, maybe it was someone wanting something to be found again -

- and upon seeing the all-too-familiar black hat and coat, slumped further into the counter. It was him, the scalpel-wielding homicidal maniac Kuroudo Akabane, and as always Akabane had a pleasant smile.

But this time Akabane spoke to the master of the place.

"One pepper and cheese omelette, please, with bacon - oh, and do remember to fry the bacon to a near-blackened crisp - and a cup of your marvelous coffee, Mr Wan."

"Would you like toast with that omelette as well?"

"Oh, yes, please, I had nearly forgotten." Akabane settled into a chair, adjusting his coat over the back of the chair.

Ginji's eyes, now fed by his stomach, leered large at the master. "Why do you give him food and not us! We're your friends! We've been here!" He was going to add " we also don't cut up people who get in our way " but offending Akabane was not on his priority list - he'd rather not die today. At least, not before he had some food in him.

"Oh, Ginji-kun, having trouble paying your bill again?" Akabane smiled. "You know, for the right price, I could help settle it for you..."

Ginji nearly fell off his chair.

"N-not hungry anymore..."

But he was, and that ate at him all the more.
