This time, however, was different.
The man with the floppy hat and the odd haori-jacket asked him to hide something, instead of stealing something, and that was different.
So Kurama arched an eyebrow at him.
"And why should I help you, old man? The way I hear it, you've been disgraced anyway."
Floppy-hat man smiled a little. "And the way I hear it, quite a few in the spirit world are looking for a certain elusive thief."
"...I have a name."
The smile grew. "I'm perfectly aware of who you are. You're quite good at what you do, so let me not disrespect that and appeal to your sense of selfishness - do this for me, and I'll teach you a technique that may very well save you one day. As a businessman, I'd say this is quite fair and agreeable."
Kurama sighed. It was true that many were on the lookout for him, but he was a fox-spirit, he was clever, he had eluded his hunters so far. And Floppy-Hat Man, Urahara Kisuke formerly of Soul Society, was something of an exile.
Someone exiled for the information he knew, for what he had found out.
Which meant information coming from him would be quite useful indeed...
His ears twitched, but he nodded. "A token payment, then, along with the information, and I'll see that what you want hidden is hidden well."
The smile was now a grin. "Ah! I knew you would come to reason. Let me teach you, Kurama-san, about a way that you can hide your own soul..."
