[Request] Any fandom, realistic self insert/fictional characters meeting author

Jun 02, 2008 00:44

Fandom: Any

Characters: Any

Pairings: Any or none, whichever.

Rating: Any

Length: At least 300 words

Situation:

Either 1. write a fic where you, the author, appears in the world of the characters and interacts with them in some fashion or 2. the characters appear in your world and interact with you in some fashion.

"World" here isn't exclusive to alien planets or fantasy worlds; a "world" can be places and activities that make up your/their lives: jobs, homes, parks, countries, etc. So, if you wanted to use CSI, you can be at a casino in Las Vegas while the cast investigates a crime. Alternatively, if you work at a concert hall and you wanted to use NANA, the Black Stones could come to play at the concert hall that you work at.

The key is that you have to be realistic as possible; write you as you, keep yourself in character. If you know Chinese and you end up in China, great, you can write yourself being able to talk to people. If you have no martial arts skills and you get attacked by ninjas, then you shouldn't write yourself wiping the floor with the ninjas. And keep the fictional characters in character as well. If the character hates men and slaps any that come near her, then she should slap you if you're male. This goes for your "world" as well (if you choose to have them come to you): if you work at a fast food joint, don't write yourself as a lawyer; write yourself as a fast food worker.

And you don't have to explain how you or they got to the respective worlds if you don't want to. You can just bamf yourself to Middle Earth or they can just bamf themselves to the park where you take your kids as long as you're still realistic and the characters react to you in a realistic manner.

Yes, although I said "write you as you", you are free to change personal, private information like your real name, where exactly you work (ex. if you work at a restaurant, you don't have to even name the restaurant if you don't want to or you could give it a fake name), where exactly you live, etc. You just can't suddenly be able to fly (unless you can but I seriously doubt it. Do superheroes write fanfiction? :)), be a multi-millionaire (unless you actually are), or anything like that.
