Summary: Mitchell always takes his time when he comes to George's shoulder.

Mitchell takes his time when he comes to George's shoulder. The wounds there are long sinced healed; only the scars remain, hard and white ridged skin. It is a mark that no amount of tender care can erase.

"Mitchell..." George breathes when Mitchell presses his mouth against it. There is the faintest scolding tone in his voice, but there is no strength about it. Mitchell's hands rub up and down his bare sides, leeching warmth from his body.

He brushes his tongue against the first of the scars and he feels George shiver underneath him. It's a reaction that makes him smile; at the end of the day, when they tumble into their bed together and force themselves to forget any sunlight arguments, the only thing he wants to do is make George feel good. It's not as selfless as it sounds. Making George writhe and moan for him makes him feel like a god: he has a werewolf under his control. That is something even Herrick could never manage.

(He would never admit this sense of pride of George, because it's something he knows to be ashamed of. It's the sort of vain reasoning that comes with being a vampire, being a monster: he doesn't think George would understand. He wouldn't want him to.)

He licks up the first scar with one long, fast swipe of his tongue, and moves on to the central two. A trail of soft kisses down the rail-tracks that they form makes George chuckle, always ticklish. Mitchell is as gentle as he can be, and he breathes on purpose to leave the rush of air against George's skin. He can hear his heart beating, so loud, so tempting. It echoes in his mind even when George isn't there.

He ends with a nip of his teeth just to get George to squirm. He even manages to provoke a shriek, almost girlish, and he can't help but grin when he looks up to meet George's eyes.

"Don't laugh," George whines, but he seems to be having difficulty with keeping a straight face as well.

"I wouldn't have to laugh if you would stop being so openly adorable," Mitchell says - mostly because he likes the way George's skin always goes a little bit red when he calls him words like that. Adorable. Cute. Sweet.

George pretends he doesn't like it.

Mitchell thinks he knows better.

"I am not adorable," George complains.

Mitchell manages to silence him by nipping at the last scar with his teeth. There is another yelp, and after a moment of silence they both start laughing again.

"Really?" Mitchell asks. "Are you sure about that?"

George's reply is a sullen mumble that turns into a trembling moan when Mitchell returns his attention to the scars on his shoulder, to the beating of his heart beneath his chest. If he intends to have George reduced to sweaty gibberish before the evening is out, he'll have to get a move on.

(He'll never tell George that he likes it when he's helpless like that; he'll never say that he pays attention to old scars to stop himself from adding new ones; and he will never let him know that on some days those ridiculous yelps and the laughter they bring are the only things that help him to stop himself from taking a bite.)
