Title: The One Person You Can Trust Character: Kate Word Count: 674 Rating: PG A/N: Written for a 10_per_genre prompt. Summary: While on the run, Kate bumps into a childhood friend.
The gun in her hand is a threat to the world: fuck with her, she'll fuck right back.
I am in love with that line - what a powerful, intense opening. Wow. And I love this whole fic - it's so very Kate, so in-character and heartbreaking and brutal. The ending is perfect. Awesome job, dear, as per usual!
I liked the way their two lives, attitudes contrasted. Its heartbreaking how cold and empty Kate's life seems, unable to let down her guard or trust anyone.
I really, really love this -- it's such a perfect Kate POV. Great opening, fantastic ending and I love the choice of language and how you set the scene. The whole encounter with her friend has such a great sense of foreboding, and also creates some kind of empathy for Kate without sacrificing the details of who she is and what she's done. Wonderful work!
