Summary: Adam tracks down a new recruit for his cause. She isn't quite what he had expected.

She tastes of innocence in a way that Adam had thought died out at least a century ago. It's sweet to the point of dizzying, and his hands cling to her without him meaning to allow them. Hiding in an alleyway together, he presses her back against the wall and crowds in tighter against her body. She's shorter than he would have expected and her hood falls back as his hand pushes through her dark hair. As they kiss, her mouth opens in a moan that vibrates against his lips. He hadn't expected this when he'd come to track down St Joan, the hooded hero on the streets of New Orleans. After all these centuries, nothing ought to surprise him, but having his ass handed to him by someone who barely reaches his shoulder had been a shock he'd been far from prepared for.

She kisses like someone without a great deal of experience, and that's more of an aphrodesiac than it should be. He imagines taking this sweet, young thing back to his hotel room and introducing her to a whole world of pleasures: corrupting the innocent shine of her eyes. He could teach her so much.

"My name is Adam," he breathes against her plump lips. She shivers at the sound of his accent: it is possible that he plays it up a little just to please her. "What's yours?"

"Monica," she answers, opening her eyes to look at him. She's a pint-sized powerhouse, a hurricane of destruction in a small package. "Or St Joan. Whichever you prefer."

"I'll stick with Monica, for now," he says. He remains crowded into her space, and in the limited light he looks at the kissable lips before him and wonders how much longer he'll be able to hold off from indulging. "I'd like to take you home with me, if you have no objections."

"You're a bad guy," she says - a coy mistress, it appears.

The smile he allows onto his face is devilish as he leans close to her, brushing his lips feather-light across hers. "So why don't you be a 'bad girl'?" he suggests. "Just for tonight, of course."

If he has his way it will be for so much more than a night. A clever girl like her ought to have no trouble with seeing the light as he shows it to her. The company had expressed an interest and then turned their back on her; he intends to finish what they'd started. He plans to make a true hero out of her.

He steps back one pace and smiles under the street light. He holds out a hand. "What do you say?" he asks.

Her head tilts to the side as she considers his offer, and she looks as if she might refuse. She bites her bottom lip and then asks, "Just one night?"

"No strings," Adam suggests. He doubts if she's ever had a one night stand in her life; the thought of being the first for her makes a filthy shiver run down his spine, and he hasn't been this excited in decades. It takes a true master to set his heart racing once more, and as she finally takes his hand and allows him to lead her out of this alleyway, Adam thinks that he might have finally met his match.
