prompt table and disclaimer Casey slowly sat up straight in the passenger seat of the cruiser and rubbed her eye. “Anything yet?” she asked Jason, who was watching attentively out the windshield.
He shook his head. “Go back to sleep.”
“You’ve been up all night. I can keep watch for a little while.”
“I’m fine,” he told her. He pulled a thermos out from under his seat. “Drink this.”
She opened it and smelled the strong coffee inside instantly. “Holy shit,” she said, holding it away from her. “Do you ever plan on sleeping again?” She put the lid back on and handed it back to him without drinking any.
He leaned back in his seat. “Nope.” He took a quick drink of coffee.
“Am I allowed to know what we’re looking for?”

“Do you think he will?”
He shrugged. “Kowalski did. It was the last big case we worked on together. I’m gonna close it.”
Casey nodded, sitting up straight. She let out a breath and rubbed her arms quickly.
“You ok?” he asked, turning his head to look at her.
She nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine,” she said, wrapping her arms tighter around herself.
He shrugged out of his jacket and draped it over her. “Go back to sleep,” he told her again. “I’ll wake you up if anything happens.”
