Pretty much the best of the best as far as I've heard.

(Note that yeah, it is often used as a sex toy, but a lot of people use it for regular massaging. They all have the same basic function after all, lol)

Second this. Easy to hold and works well on those achy fibro muscles and hard to reach spots.

This Sharper Image back massager. I know it's not hand-held, but I cannot tell you just how much this thing has helped me. A couple of years ago, my father and I were Christmas shopping and I was hurting really bad; I was just gasping as I walked it hurt so much. We went into Bed Bath and Beyond and they had back massagers sitting out to try out. I sat on this one while my father did the shopping, and when he was ready to go, I got up and my back ache was gone. It stayed gone the rest of the day and at the end of the shopping trip, we came back and bought one of the massagers. It *still* works like a miracle when I'm hurting really bad. You can feel the rollers hitting the knots, and that hurts, too, but it's kind of in a good, 'this is going to help me so much' kind of way. I really, really cannot recommend this enough, if you can afford it.

I recently shelled out for one of these:

It's on the expensive side, but not compared to a few massage therapy sessions. It's been really good. I bought it because my chiropractor uses one after adjustments. I like that it's really heavy, so I can basically lay on my stomach and just kinda lay it on my back or shoulders where it hurts and let it work its magic without having to work to put pressure.
