*rabble rabble*

I'm trying really hard to control my anger, fear and frustration. I went to my follow up appt. after having labs drawn. I told the lab tech at that time she should double check that she had all my labs because they usually take 3-4 tubes not just 1. She smiled and totally blew me off by saying that of course they had everything blah blah. Fast ( Read more... )

OMG! What a craptastic experience. I'm sorry. Meh.

I had an appt yesterday too, to switch my antidepressant to the one that i asked for in the first freaking place. UGH. And another add insult to injury, the side effects listed are pretty much the symptoms of fibro. WTF.

I also did not receive a stronger/different painkiller or a sleep aid despite saying that my sleep is completely disrupted and sporadic at this point, and that my flexeril isn't doing anything. I was rx'd my flexeril by a nurse practitioner, who wanted me to cut the pills in half so i'm only getting 5mg or whatever. I told that to this doc, and also that in order for me to have ANY relief at all, i have to take 2 FULL pills(so 20mg) plus 800mg ibuprofen.

SO effing frustrating!!! I feel your pain.

ugh, i hope it's not anything serious :(

also, i thought the bonus of tramadol was that it wasn't addictive? that's ridiculous. :(

and as far as the handicap placard goes, have you downloaded (or picked up?) the permit application? i've gotten permits in two states now, and in both cases i just needed any old doctor or specialist (including a chiropractor!) to sign off on it. if you show the form to the specialists who have said "yes you should get one" and they see what has to be filled out, they'll probably sign off for you. you might even be able to drop it off and not bother with an appointment.

I think the problem is with our HMO/hospital/clinic system. Both of the specialists said I should have one but refused to fill it out stating that my "primary" had to do it. And my primary said it was their policy to only fill out forms for these specific people.

*grumbles*

after I find out whats going on with this situation I will be transfering to a clinic closer to me (now that weve moved) and is under a different hospital but same hmo system ... maybe the policies there wont be so bad

ugh, that's just ridiculous. parking placards should have nothing to do with hospital policies! it makes me so angry that doctors refuse to be doctors and instead are better at being bureaucrats.

Tramadol is a synthetic narcotic. It works on the opiate receptors, but not in the same way that true opiates do. Because of this, a lot of people do not tend to get addicted... but you still have people that will. It's a less likely thing, not a "can't happen".

Of course, you have people getting addicted to things that have no psychiological component, so what to say there, really?

I'm sorry to hear you are having such troubles. I hope you can find out news about your liver that isn't as distressing as it sounds!

Have you considered trying to find another primary care physician? It doesn't sound like they are taking all of your health concerns seriously enough :(

The sad thing .... she is the nicest Dr. at that clinic now. I was being seen by a PA at that clinic, she was wonderful. She didn't think I was crazy or a druggie and would write scripts for tramadol and the occasional vicoden when things got really bad. But then "they" <--- not sure who "they" is ... but they came down on all clinics for writing pain relief scripts for anything other than cancer. I lost my papa and father in law to pancreatic cancer. Vicoden isn't going to do anything for that kind of pain. :(

And she transferred to another clinic ... and driving long distances isn't an option ... riding or driving it. :(

I'm so sorry that they're failing all over the place. Maybe file a complaint with the hospital about her not thinking you're eligible for a placard, because it sounds very discriminatory to me- doctors don't make the rules regarding those I think it's the state that does.

the state does and it even has on there about neurological ailments and such ... I just dont understand why it's such an issue.

Unless it's that whole ... "you dont LOOK sick ..." thing ...
