the ever allusive good sleep....I truly think that is the core of the FM issue. we dont get into stage 3 and 4 (or is it 4 and 5?) that is considered the restorative sleep. Medications only mask the problem

What sort of meditation did you try? There are many different kinds and I find meditation is often more powerful if I do it with someone who really knows what she's doing and is settled. I've had less luck with meditating on my own to fall asleep or relieve stress. Er, what I'm trying and failing to say is the guided meditation practice has changed the way I meditate on my own.
Also do you have trauma you haven't dealt with? The unconscious speaks up sometimes in weird ways.
I don't have very much advice on this but I sympathize. I've noticed when my pain levels are completely out of control my pain travels over to my dreams. Once one of my fingers hurt so much at the joint that in my dream a crazy zombie bit it off... That was weird!
I don't take any specific sleep aids but I do take Neurontin at night and that does help me stay asleep. I could always give you my mom's advice which is to have a glass of heated up milk (with maybe a tiny bit of honey) before you go to sleep. Of course, this assumes that you aren't allergic to milk. I can't do that anymore because I found out about a dairy allergy about 2 years ago.
