just a quick one about skin stuff

I think I just have really sensitive skin, but I was wondering if it had to do with my fibro.  It feels like nails on a chalkboard when I touch anything anymore.  I can't do the dishes at all, (even though I wear those thick yellow rubber gloves)  I can't take clothes out of the washer, I can't help my 5 year old wash her hair.  Anything that has ( Read more... )

I get similar skin ouchness whenever I have a flare up, or am approaching one; not as severe as your skin issues, but still annoying as all hell. Your symptoms sound pretty severe, but rest assured that you're not crazy!

(Gentle) hugs to you.

Thank you. So far, all I've noticed before I flare is a really bad migraine. Maybe it's another thing I need to watch out for too.

Ooo... I like this. Combine it with super-sensitive sense of smell and we could replace the bomb and drug-sniffing dogs. Just have someone wheel us around all day. And there's some pretty decent food and shopping in airports these days. :D

Candidly, though, my hearing is the one that bothers me the most. It's like I can't control the volume sometimes.

That happens to me too. Can't touch newspaper or clothing sometimes. I find lotion helps but I have to avoid a bunch of stuff.

Yeah, I put on such a thick layer of Aloe Vera lotion just to be able to put my sweater on, or get dressed, or ya know, stuff. Thank you.

Sounds a lot like either tactile defensiveness or allodynia. I know allodynia is a fibro symptom.

Oh and of course, as with any symptom that bothers you, see your doctor and complain to him/her about it. Maybe something can be done. Good luck!
