I still don’t remember how I got to the canal. I just remember feeling the cold damp of the canal bank seep into my trousers as I stared at the moonlight reflecting in the oily depths of the canal. Well that, and the feel of the blood congealing between my fingers where my hand was still clutched around the weapon

I walked back over to Gene and got back on my knees. I gently placed the knife flat against his stomach. Gene recoiled slightly from the cold blade. I locked eyes with him and for the first time ever Gene looked away first
