In the last few days, I have come to an unfortunate conclusion: there is very little left for Artie to do in Fandom.
As such, I will be retiring him as a character soon.
But before I do, I thought I’d give the bouncy galoot a plot that has been broiling on the stove (to use a completely random metaphor) for several months as his final send-off.
Artie’s stated purpose for being on the island is to get rid of emo. So he’s going to do just that.
The weekend of September 30th (I’m not certain yet whether it will kick off on Friday night or Saturday ,morning), and emo demon (not Bel) will be coming to Fandom. This demon looks perfectly harmless on the outside, but emits rays of emo across the entire island.
Thus making people very very foolishly emo.
We’re talking over-the-top, crying-over-spilled-milk-literally emo. Not roof-jumping emo, but rather sitting-in-the-corner-of-your-room-with-the-lights-off-and-sobbing-to-bad-indie-rock-or-bad-country-music emo. Essentially-useless-for-anything-except-moping emo. Emo-for-no-reason-in-particular emo, if you like.
This is entirely voluntary. If for whatever reason, you would prefer for your character to not be bizarrely emo when this demon comes to town, then they aren’t. For whatever reason, the rays of emo don’t affect them. La-di-da.
This sort of ridiculous emo is exactly the event that Artie has spent these last months preparing for. It’s what he’s here to fight. And he will, using the emo demon’s only weakness:
Silliness.
Artie will recruit an army of silly to go be goofy, DADA, bizarre, and cheerfully weird at the emo demon until it dissolves in a puddle of goo or just generally goes poof. This will probably occur sometime Sunday night.
How does Artie know what this demon is and what it’s weakness is? He’s handwavily and uncanonically faced it before. Just so we don’t have the emo drawn out for too long. Once this is accomplished, Artie will make his farewells and bound off into the sunset (so to speak) to go protect and conquer evil elsewhere in the world.
As I said, participation in this plot is entirely optional. It’s also open to any character, be it student, teacher, or townie. What I’d like to know here is how many people would be interested in being members of Artie’s Army of Silliness, and if people have any questions/suggestions for keeping this all nice, friendly, organized, and fun. After all, this is my first time actually running something like this, instead of just being support crew.
