Don't cry, she told herself. That would give them both away, and she couldn't do that to Sam. One more suck. Two. And. Done. She pulled away, looking away to wipe her mouth, then very quickly swipe at her eyes as her face went back to normal, still hungry but not the gnawing painful thing it had been. Just a little rumble. Dinah wondered if that ever went away.
She managed to look at Sam, and then put her hand over the bite, trying to stop the flow. She didn't want to smell it, to think of him as food. "Thanks." She shook her head. "Don't.. Don't tell anyone?"

"You haven't given me away yet, so it's only fair," he assured her, glad that the regretful expression on his face wasn't out of the ordinary for his trips here. "You sure you're going to be okay?"

She turned to walk away before she changed her mind and did something they'd both regret.

He didn't remember what gentleness was like, and it rocked him back on his heels.
"Be safe, Dinah," he said quietly to her retreating form, waiting for her to leave before he got up himself, and got the frakking hell out of this place.

She held out the container she'd brought. "I thought you might be hungry," she offered. "I wish it were more, but..." This body was already underfed and overtaxed. Karla hadn't wanted to damage it further and couldn't think of anyone she could ask.
