The last day of the month used to mean payday, but on Fandom Island, it meant sunshine brighter than a your teeth after a week of whitening strips. The shabby town was bathed in light, looking perfectly safe. And yet, in the shadows and corners of buildings lurked the vampires. Beware.

Unless you're planning on scaling the walls, this is the only place to get in or out of the dorms. A running list of the deceased is displayed prominently along the lobby's walls, both in remembrance, and as a way for everyone to check for new names before inviting anyone else inside.

Samuel was on deck, waiting with his kit to do triage and try to save lives as necessary. He'd hate it, but at least the ones they hauled in to him weren't all the way dead yet. Or worse.

Helen had woken up on the ground not that far from the dorm. She must have passed out from the pain as she'd attempted to get back last night. At least this time she managed to get through the door before her head and ribs betrayed her and she sank to the floor again.

"Could use a hand here."

The school is still standing as a testament to how things should have been, even now that it's vampire territory. Be on your guard, because you never know who might be lurking around.

Ender had felt artistic, yesterday - at least if you wanted to apply those kind of labels to it. He'd been frustrated, eager to get something done, and in the process, he might have overindulged a few of his own memories.

Which meant there were now five bodies in the library, draped across tables and desks and bookcases, like the children had been in the mind game, after they'd become wolves, after he'd dragged them and drowned him with his own bare hands.

They all had the sheen of asphyxiation to them; only two of them were drained.

It was a waste of resources, sure, but it'd satisfied some innate wishes anyway. Now he was sat at the table, doodling a boy and a girl on a piece of paper, himself always in the middle. Sentimental, Ender. You're getting sentimental in your unlife.

Leto entered the library, and after taking in the scene, he looked at Ender. "I'm impressed. Not quite tasteful, but this must have taken some effort."

The once-thriving town might be mostly deserted, but there's still some places to be out and about, if you're careful to be home before the sun goes down.

Bel shouldn't have been rewarding Veronica after her indiscretions with Tyler, but it wasn't every day that he bagged a treat like Logan Echolls. He'd stashed Logan in the ruins of his old home, making sure he was securely bound and gagged before shimmering back to Town Hall.

He tracked down Veronica and told her to close her eyes because he had a surprise for her, then, as it was getting light out, he shimmered her to the manor. "All right," he said, positioning her in front of Logan. "Open your eyes."

Veronica was desperately hoping that Bel hadn't heard radio. She had been rather indiscrete in not marking that thread NFB closing Effy's door before taking care of business.

But when she opened her eyes, she gave a little squeal of delight and clapped her hands. "Oh, YAY, you do love me best!"
