The sun set, taking its safety with it. Clouds hung low in the sky, still dropping a variety of condoms by the bucketful. The clouds broke occasionally, allowing the bright moonlight to shine off the torn structures and broken windows in the town. Even without the moon, the ground was littered with glow-in-the-dark condoms creating a virtual path ( Read more... )

The once-thriving town might be mostly deserted during the day, but at night, it's time for the vampires to make this place their own.

"Then leave, Tahiri," he said, enunciating her name slowly. "Because your constant whining and moping and sulking is getting tiresome. You've become a hindrance."

Tahiri glared at him, Force-lightning coalescing around her clenched fist. "Last I checked, I haven't been stopping any of you from doing whatever kriffing insignificant thing you want to do."

And wow, did that ever make her pissy.

"So I've seen," he answered mildly, keeping an eye on that lightning. "But then again, you haven't been doing much of anything at all."

She turned away from him and muttered petulantly, "I've been busy. Wouldn't expect you to understand."

"Cry more," Gavin said, already shaking his head. "What a disappointment."

Oh, hi there, issues.

"Go find something else to do, Gavin," Tahiri snapped, and unleashed a warning bolt of lightning somewhere near him. "Quit wasting your metaphorical breath on me."

Gavin moved away from the warning strike, an amused smile on his face. "Such anger issues." But yeah, he'd be leaving now. He didn't need his clothes singed. "Have fun being a failure."

And with that, he turned to leave.

Tahiri waited for him to leave before snarling in rage and Force-hurling the remains of the checkout counter through the side wall of the store.

Worst. Sith. Ever.

It was especially foolish to be out at night so close to the vampires's nest, but Raven lurked among the buildings. She wasn't exactly sure why she was out there or what she was looking for, but she'd know it when she found it.

"Something I can help you with?" came a voice from above her head.

Raven glanced upward. "Hello, Liir," she said. She didn't sense any other vampires nearby; at least, she wasn't feeling the usual hunger that accompanied most of them.

He gave her a quick grin before sliding off of the broom and landing gracefully a few feet from her.

"Hello, Raven. Lovely as ever, I see. And still breathing. Quite the accomplishment, even for one of your talents."

"I have my doubts that your kind would find the blood of a half-demon appetizing," Raven said.

It was easier to deal with vampires who had been created before she arrived at the island. To see one wearing the face of someone she had known while he or she lived was much more difficult, and she mourned the loss of a soul. But to dwell on the past was pointless.

"How have you been, Liir?" she asked.

His eyes closed in bliss, a smile curling across his face as they did.

"I have been absolutely wonderful, really," he said with a laugh as they opened again.

"I don't think you appreciate how lovely it is, to be like this. All the fear, all the worry... the responsibilities that weighed on me, all of it: gone. The days can be a touch boring I suppose, but the nights, oh the nights."

"I admit it would be pleasing to be without care," Raven said. "But the deaths of those you once called friend, they do not bother you?" She still had difficulty accepting that being turned into a vampire could purge one of all former affections.
