Backpacking trip: Santa Cruz, Thursday

Jun 24, 2010 13:27

It's another quietly gorgeous day in Santa Cruz, with highs in the upper sixties and partly cloudy skies. Perfect weather to hit the water! Just hope no one's forgetting the sunscreen.

[ooc: here comes the OCD Second to last day, OMG!]

Santa Cruz Hostel. There's drama among the surfers from New Zealand. A guy from Australia, who seems to have been there forever, has made popcorn.

They're a little bit emptier today -- apparently the light, breezy weather doesn't scream beach at too many people.

Just means there's more room for you!

Jack feared no weather as he staked out a spot on the beach to enjoy the sights.

Other people may not enjoy the sight of that much Jack on display in his Speedos.

Santa Cruz Boardwalk. This one is more crowded than it's been. Thursday means it's almost the weekend, after all, and some people have started relaxing early.

Santa Cruz Harbor. Mrs. Priestly has been generous enough to charter a sailboat for those interested graduates in the afternoon -- the Chardonnay II. There's pizza, sodas, music, and a tour of the coast line as the Chardonnay makes its way out onto the water for the afternoon.

Shops and museums and restaurants galore, for those less interested in being outside, all day.

[the grill and crystal shop are moddable, today, as I'm still swimming through the UK budget]
