All in all, Guinevere would prefer to be in the Preserve, or the archery range. Or home. But she was tired of the language barrier here so she was attempting to study English. She'd managed to get hold of a Latin to English dictionary and was glad she'd bothered to learn the language of the invaders after all ( Read more... )

Triela wandered out onto the deck. It was a bit odd to not be doing things with her time, but... she figured some time spent 'relaxing' wouldn't hurt her. Much.

When she spotted Guinevere she offered the other girl a little nod. "Enjoying the sun?" That was one of the expected questions for these situations, right?

Guinevere hesitated a bit before answering, having to do some translating. "Yes." she finally said. Now what was the phrase? "Thank you."

Not having a lot conversational English yet, she never the less forged ahead. She touched her chest and said "Guinevere."

"Triela," Triela returned. She eyed Guinevere thoughtfully. "English isn't your first language, is it?"

Guinevere's English had the same feeling as Triela's Russian.

Nor even her second really. Again a pause as she translated. It was certainly easier now than when she'd first arrived. Then she'd had no idea what anyone was saying.

"No. Pict. Gaelic." Those were her first languages. "Latin?" she asked Triela, hoping she might be able to skip some of the hard parts and find a common language.
