Pacific Princess, Wednesday Morning/Afternoon

Feb 24, 2015 23:53

For those of you not sleeping off hangovers due to last night's jaunt into the fictional future, it was a beautiful morning just off the Mexican coast. And about mid-morning, the ship would be pulling in to dock in Puerta Vallarta. If you do decide to head off onto dry land, just be sure to make it back before the ship leaves at 6pm sharp! And for ( Read more... )

Kaylin was wandering the ship because, well, because most of it was so confusing. People wearing next to no clothes by the pools and sooo very much water everywhere and machinery and people coming in and out and everywhere and well... just everything.

She sighed a little in relief when she saw Hannibal. "Hello. Do you find this place very strange too?"

"Probably not as strange as you do," Hannibal answered with a smile. "I was a child the first time through these years, but I remember them." He watched a man in a very unfortunate polyester leisure suit pass by. "Unfortunately."

"This is your world then, just... from before?" Kaylin found it all weird, so why not traveling in time?

"I don't know if it's mine precisely, but it's close enough." Hannibal grimaced. "I rather hope it is, because I should hate to think more than one world would come up with spam."

Despite the fact that Jono also knew what it was, so there was that hope dashed.

"Have you been enjoying it at all?" he asked her. "I imagine a vacation must be a bit frustrating." She didn't seem like the sitting-still type.

Kaylin shrugged. "I'm doing a lot of running down below decks. I keep scaring the staff. But they're everywhere. And the stars are nice. But the people, well, there are too many and I can't wear my daggers and so it all makes me edgy. And there's lots of food, but it's very strange."

She'd eat anything, but that didn't mean she had to like it.

"That is certainly one word for it." Hannibal grimaced. "Actually, you could help with that, if you like."

Kaylin looked horrified. "Me?? I can use one of those microwave thingies to heat things up, but I can't cook!"

Hannibal gave her a long-suffering look at the mention of the microwave - hey, look, one positive thing about the seventies! They weren't nearly as prevalent yet.

"Not for that." He smirked. "How would you like to help with a bit of breaking and entering, to be repaid in decent food?"

Kaylin considered this thoughtfully for a moment. "I am rather good at picking locks..."

Hannibal grinned. "I believe Karla has that handled, but a backup couldn't hurt."

She narrowed her eyes. "I'm not hurting or killing anyone just to get food. Even if it's yours."

Hannibal raised an eyebrow at her. "I wouldn't ask you to." He'd do that himself. "The worst we might do is tie people up if they try to stop us."

"I can tie people up," Kaylin said more cheerfully. "I'm good at that too."

"Very good." Hannibal grinned at her. "We'll leave you in charge of that, then."

"All right then. When are we doing this?" she asked, half expecting him to say they were headed off right now.

Well, it's what Teela would have done.

Fortunately, Hannibal liked to plan a little further in advance. Very little in this case, but in his defense, spam.

"Tonight," he answered. "Once dinner and the buffets have been completed, there shouldn't be many staff left in the kitchens."
