Hi there, I'm sorry that you had to go through that. :\

I'm not trying to be annoying, but I really want to help you with something: If they say that the only passwords stolen were "encrypted", that means that the password you were using is still safe.

I've been doing IT since I was 19 (I'm 32 now) and I can honestly tell you its nearly impossible to find the original password if they only have the encrypted password ("encrypted" is a blanket term, but most of them share the same strengths).

Even Playspan would have a VERY hard time turning encrypted passwords back into regular ones. The way modern passwording goes, when you enter in the password to log in, the login computers do a bunch of math and computer-y stuff to the password, which matches the process that made your password when you set it.

True. But I take a email like this VERY seriously. Seems the problem was PlaySpan was doing maint at the same time they sent these out. (Bad timing guys!) They may be asking people to reset as a precaution; The way I understand it, hackers can be sneaky little idiots and have been known to decrypt things like that...

I also confirmed via the fake reply trick that this is not a phishing email, before anyone asks.

Also for a little more info; this was badly handled, and now UltimatePay is down!

Pass this on though; I heard of one person on FFXI AH who already deleted the email. Ooops!
