What is with all the trolling and rant deleting lately!?!

Going so far as to delete not only your post but your whole journal (pearsnpears) after people disagree with your HDU treat people using slurs uncivilly post makes you look less like someone ignorant of the issues and more like a concern troll who couldn't take the heat.

Missed it. Which is probably a good thing considering how much the original post pissed me off. But still, I kind of wish someone had caps. I can't seem to avoid a good train wreck.

All I've got is the snipped bit from my comment notifications in my email. Wish LJ didn't snip posts, I really liked having them in my email notifs. :(

FFR has long been a community that I've admired for its intelligent discussions, conscientious focus on language choices, and ever-constant love for all things fandom. I love that I've heard perspectives and opinions that in normal circumstances would be rare. I, myself, only very occasionally post or comment to FFR, but I'm always lurking about, reading, enjoying the discussions and more often than not, learning something new.

( But there's one thing that's irked me of late. )

And here's the ETA courtesy of beer_good_foamy:
ETA: I understand now that I am guilty of using a tone argument, and can better appreciate how it is insulting and patronizing. I'm sorry for having done both, as well as for any- however inadvertent- hurt I caused. Thank for helping me understand my mistake and for you patience.

Edited to fix borked html

I've got the full text of the original post, from my e-mail. I get my e-mails in plain text, so I had to clean it up a bit, but here it is ( ... )

It got deleted just as I was trying to expand the first comment thread, and find out what was going on. So frustrating.

Sceencap with 81 comments. I left the browswer window open with comments expanded before I went to sleep because I knew pearsnpears wouldn't be able to take the heat and it would be gone by the time I got up. I'm not even surprised.

Meant to say this on the original post but didn't have time - is it just me or is it the case that most people are civil when calling out offensive language, at least at first?

Pretty much. I usually see something like, "that's offensive to these people, could you please not say that." It's only when they're like, "NO! I can talk however I want, and you shouldn't be so sensitive!" that people start getting angry. So basically pearsnpears was totally full of shit.

Yeahhh there always comes a point at which it's obvious that they're not going to listen no matter what you say and they start talking like a broken record. xD I read that post and I was like 'what, am I missing something or are you reading a different FFR to me'.

That was certainly the case on the most recent post, and that's my general experience.

I also noticed that it didn't really make a difference that pearsnpears used big words and didn't swear when she condescended to everyone and talked over them. The comment didn't make the cap, but I said in the original post that, in retrospect, I regretted engaging her on her "polite" ground because she ended up thanking me for doing nothing more than saying things that other people were already saying. But she deigned to address me because, I guess, I minded my tone.

Seriously, did FFR get spotlighted or something? Because I know whenever _p gets spotlighted new trolls tend to appear.
