Hi, everyone! Well, I'm now making a FF IX Garnet (or Dagger; whichever you prefer) cosplay for a con later this year. But I'm a bit puzzled. For the costume, I have everything I need; I'm having trouble with the necklace. Here's a few pics:

Does it matter how big the crystal is, dear? I have a crystal almost exactly like that, but its no bigger than a quarter.

"stones" for props are freqeuntly made out of resin? And I think you would then have to paint it... but it might be easier to just look around online in a bead/jewel ordering site for a similar one?

Yeah, any big suncatching crystal of the right shape would work ... but you might want to go with acrylic instead, because it's lighter and less likely to break. I suggest you google instead of ordering off eBay, because you'll probably find them cheaper elsewhere. One Garnet I know made her crystal out of an old chandelier piece, or maybe it was a light fixture? I don't remember.

(btw, beware of hanging suncatchers in windows ... depending on shape, the light they focus can set your curtains on fire or burn holes in the furniture. I kid you not.)

If you want to make it yourself, cast it out of resin. You can get poly resin at a craft store. Good luck!
