Why this must be read: Thecon12’s story begins early in season five, as Callie and Erica are carefully exploring the beginning of their burgeoning romance; and follows them on a journey of joy, misery, and acceptance. I have reread this treasure of a fic time and again. The emotions created are so raw and affecting; it takes my breath at times. There is a moment in this story where Dr. Erica Hahn’s veneer slips lose, and we glimpse the broken, devastated woman inside; and she is heartbreakingly gorgeous. Callie literally brings this strong, proud woman to her knees; and brings tears to my eyes. What more could one ask for. Even those who are not fans of Grey’s Anatomy will enjoy this exploration of a first-time same sex relationship, and their roller coaster ride through dealing with colleagues, family, and ultimately one another; a wrenching, beautiful story.
