“We’re close to breaking atmo, an hour away at the most,” Wash said swiveling in his chair to look at Mal. “Any particular place you want me to set down?”
Mal moved to the consol and pulled up a map of the area. “Right ‘bout there.” He pointed to a spot that was nestled between to hills. “That’s meet point. Have to fly over Qin Fan canyon but not too low, dong ma?”
Wash gave him a questioning look. “Not to be questioning your authority Mal, which you know I’d never do, but wouldn’t the canyon make more - ”
“No.” The answer was short and clipped. Wash nodded his head and turned to start setting the coordinates in.
“Should be there about half an hour after we break atmo. Anything else?”
Mal shook his head and settled into the co-pilots chair. “Nothin’ at the moment, Wash. Go find your wife, just be back here in time - ”
“Got it, Mal,” Wash said cutting him off before making a hasty exit from the bridge, leaving Mal to his thoughts.
He hadn’t been back, not even when he heard about the destruction. Zoe had tried, told him his Momma would’ve been disappointed, but he refused to hear it. He didn’t need to hear how his Momma would’ve felt, didn’t want to know how bad it had been.
Looks like I’m ‘bout to find out anyways.
