Ha ha, you thought this was dead, didn't you?
Well, first,
first_seventhe and I have been kind of busy. I'm an aerospace engineering student, she's a chemical engineer, we get busy sometimes. No, we're not kidding. XD Plus there hasn't been too much activity and the usual Monday Updates were getting kind of repetitive and annoying. I'm sure some of you filtered

I think DreamWidth might just be the Real Deal for a fandom journaling service. It's so easy to crosspost from there, too - it's as though LJ and Semagic had a perfect lovechild, and that was DreamWidth. :3

I'd edit the post myself, but you can only delete or tag posts as a mod on a community.

Personally, I'm rather sceptical about most of these sites now. People might view this site as the final fandom haven, but even in the website's guiding principles the admin are clever enough to leave wiggle room for themselves.
We believe in free expression. We will not place limits on your expression, except as required by United States law or to protect the quality and long-term viability of the service (such as removing spam). We will provide you with tools that make creativity and free expression easy. If, at any point, we have to place restrictions on your expression, we will tell you why, and work to find the best ( ... )

And it's just charming enough for me to take that invite code and want to play with it a bit. XD I'm realistic enough not to put all my hopes on everything (this is why I have ljarchive save all my shit and have a wordpress archive).

However it is only fair to point out that I've been excited about DW since it was very first mentioned publically, so take me with a grain of salt!

Personally, I like the idea of people becoming more involved with their social networking sites. I really would like for a project like this to succeed - a site that's based on people willingly paying for a service to get a (possibly) superior product. I think it's safe to say that most long-term lj users become quite attached to their journals - their writing journals & communities even more so. I like the honesty of the company asking me for my contribution as a consumer, rather than attacking me with ads (which makes them beholden to the companies supporting their service, with arguably dubious results).
tl:dr; I like the idea of this experiment. I'm sceptical and I'm not sure it'll work but if we can't experiment with projects on the internet, where can we? ^^
