Doink! Final Fantasy Exchange
2010 General Participation Signups

Greetings, all! Welcome to the third round of Doink! Final Fantasy Exchange, a fandom-wide multimedia exchange event. You asked, and we answered! We have a new name, a new sign up form, a new home for our fanwork, and the games are about to begin.

In 2010, we'll all be using An Archive of Our Own to post our work and because of this, everyone will need an account before going through the new sign up process. A few weeks back, we asked everyone to acquire an account, and we hope everyone has. If you haven't yet, or are new to these parts, please e-mail us at ff.exchange@gmail.com and let us know you need an invite; we'll get you ready for the sign up process. However, please don't wait until the last minute! :)

Also as of this round, we will have two places to follow news about the exchange - on Livejournal at ff_exchange and on Dreamwidth at
ff_exchange. Comments will be open in both places, so don't hesitate to use the comments to get in touch with us. As always, you can use our e-mail address, ff.exchange@gmail.com, or hop into chat to see if we're there.

To learn more about the exchange, you can check out the rules and the Walkthrough. There have been some changes from the previous rounds, so please read the rules and check out the Walkthrough if you need a refresher on the basics. If you don't find the answer you need in the Walkthrough, don't hesitate to e-mail us - everything is new this round and we're here to help you!

To participate, you must be able to complete your gift by May 16th, 2010. Please try to make the best gift you can! Your basic guide to quality gifting:

  • Stories: Fics don't have to be a million pages long, but they should be at least 1,000 words.
  • Art: Tremendous full-color masterpieces are not a requirement, but simple sketches, stick figures, etc. won't cut it.
  • General: In general, try to be objective. Take a good look at your gift and ask yourself how thrilled you'd be to receive it.

The moderator team, with the help of
zachariah and many many testers, built an entirely new signup form from the ground up to accommodate us and our growing fandoms and to make matching faster and better! The biggest change this round is that everyone gets four requests! We are really excited about it and hope everyone will enjoy it. We worked really hard on the form, and we hope it makes signups less confusing and more awesome.

Additional notes:

  • It would be a great help if all participants added ff.exchange@gmail.com to their allowed list. Lower your gates! We come in fandom love and peace <3
  • Our form has been tested in Firefox, Camino, Safari, Chrome, and the latest versions of Internet Explorer (7, 8) - we advise against using IE6!
  • If you're not sure you want to be a full exchange participant but you're interested in helping us out, you can sign up to be a pinch hitter here! There's no obligation for pinch hitters, just the potential to help out if you can.
  • If you have any trouble when signing up, please contact us at ff.exchange@gmail.com or pop into our chatroom to see if there's a moderator available.
  • Please be patient if you encounter errors - we promise not to leave you behind! :) We've tried to test thoroughly, but everything is still shiny, squeaky new, so issues are always a possibility; just contact us and we'll help you out. With all that said:

Doink! Final Fantasy Exchange! is officially open for business.
